Antique Portrait Brooch

This hand-painted antique brooch has a beautiful miniature portrait with glass intact. Portrait miniatures peaked in popularity in the 18th and 19th centuries. We are placing this as roughly late 19th century and made in America (at least the setting) based on the hallmarks, but the clothing and hairstyle depicted in the portrait is typical of the Rococo or early neoclassical period (think Marie Antoinette), which was much earlier. Regardless, it's a gorgeous piece of history to add to your collection. 14K gold. Hand-painted portrait. Measures 30mm by 30 mm. Weighs 7.7 grams. Very good antique condition.
